Invisible Ecologies

Ecosystems data visualization

Invisible Ecologies is a project that tells the story of the ecosystem as a living subject, starting with rivers. The anthropocentric gaze gives way to a point of view in which the river has its own history, memory and behavior. The river tells its own story through data.

The data comes from public databases and long-term scientific archives and takes shape through collaboration with public bodies in the field: hydrological measurements, historical series, ecological and biological indicators. Each series becomes visual behavior, with the density, speed, turbulence and color of generative systems that make the rhythms and transformations of the ecosystem perceptible.

The project unfolds as a series of immersive installations dedicated to the Arno, the Tiber, the air and microorganisms. Each chapter brings the audience into an environment where science becomes sensory experience and invites listening, attention and responsibility toward ecosystems.
