Watercosm
Invisible Ecologies: Watercosm is a new media art project that renders visible the invisible — the microscopic organisms, bacteria, fungi, and larvae that sustain every aquatic ecosystem on the planet.
After years of translating river data into immersive audiovisual installations — the Arno, the Tiber — this chapter shifts focus from the river as system to the organisms that make the system possible. Ten life forms, each invisible to the naked eye, each foundational to the ecological structures humans depend on and continue to compromise.
The project approaches each organism not as a data point but as a subject — classifying, mapping, and rendering it with the precision of scientific documentation and the attention of portraiture. A non-anthropocentric perspective on water: not as resource, but as world.
